Muzak (though, not literally. Cuz no one likes muzak.)

You must listen to Charlie Puth.  SO GOOD.
When I heard his arrangement of Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe', I almost fell over.  Rarely do I feel such a pure stoked-ness about music, as though all is finally right in the world.  (Dramatic, but you get the point).  But it was seriously so good!!  It has an amazing light, jazzy feeling to it.  Ima shut up now, just go listen to it.

AND THEN, a few weeks ago, I found the Cimorelli family.  Gosh.  6 - part female vocals, mostly a-capella?  I think yes.  They're freakishly good.  Agh.  Just.... go listen to all of their songs/covers.  I don't have a favourite, IT'S JUST NOT POSSIBLE.  http://www.youtube.com/user/cimorellitheband/

In other news, I was in Seattle for the weekend!  My youth group took all the grads down to celebrate being free of high school :-D  We went to the Seattle outlet mall, Pike Place Market, the Wall of Gum, saw The Avengers (SO GOOD), threw money down escalators and watched the people it landed by scrambling to find it because they think they dropped it, things like that.  I bought Ted Dekker's entire 'Circle' series while in Seattle for freaking $11.95, and I'm already halfway through it in three days :-P  The motel/hotel/suite thing we stayed at had a pool, and the two hours we were all in it gave me a sunburn.  My almost magical ability to burn in any amount of sunlight is starting to just get embarrassing.  Good times! Ha.  It was a lot of fun, I wish it had been longer!

Ima go procrastinate over schoolwork now.  One week left 'till summer!!!!!!

Grad 2012

So, yesterday was fun.  I got my hair done really nice, I wore a great dress, and had the best shoes, makeup, and jewelry ever.  And a lot of people were looking at me....

BECAUSE I GRADUATED FROM HIGHSCHOOL :-D

Agh, it was so much fun.  The photos, the speeches, the hundreds of people, the dance!!!  It was more than I was expecting.  I expected a lot of homeschooled kids acting, well, homeschooled.  And a lot of lame music. But we danced for 3 hours and didn't realize the time until it was over, the DJ was awesome.  It felt like 5 minutes!  I still can't believe I just graduated.  I guess this means no more Barbies with my sister, doesn't it.... :-P

Me, my sisters, and my nephew :-)

 BABY IN A SUIT <3

There was a freaking ice sculpture.  AGH.

Can't do much without these ladies by my side :-)

I still have 2 weeks of classes left, but hopefully grad will have been enough to give me a bug final push to get it all done.  I even had a friend over for a sleepover after before she had to go back to the Island, and now I'm packing for a grad trip with my youth group.... BEST WEEKEND EVER.  Grad blues are gonna suck though.  Ugh.  BUT I'M STILL SO HAPPY.

Here, listen to our grad song to cheer you up too.  They played this after we chucked our hats up and were walking out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqKa942QtzQ

Let Spring Begin!

I wrote my History test yesterday afternoon!!!!!!  And it went great!!!!!!!!!!!!  I never feel happy after an RCM exam, but I did this time!  I totally messed up on studying..... I studied for a week solid 3 weeks before the exam, and then totally sluffed off for the next 2 weeks.  FAIL.  So, basically, I did a crapload of studying 3 days before the test (don't tell my mom).  But I knew everything on it!!!  There were THREE ten point essays that I had to write for it; they always give you a few choices for each essay, and they had Stravinsky, my main composer, the one I knew the most about, my main opera, Madama Butterfly, and my main concerto, La Primavera :-D  My wrist was sore after that.

And then they asked my about the components of a fugue and sonata form.  ACED.  But in the first question.... terror struck.  There were 6 music scores, and I had to look at them and tell them the name, composer, and some other stuff about 4 of them.  I ONLY KNEW TWO.  So I guessed :-S ('cause it's better to guess and maybe be right, than to leave it blank and get it wrong :-D )  But I was talking to this girl after about it, and I asked what she got for the ones I guessed on.... AND I FREAKING GOT IT RIGHT.  There were a few other questions, which I'm feeling good about.  So I'm expecting an awesome grade on this.

Thank you to everybody I had praying for me!!!!  It payed off :-D

GOOD DANCING SONG :-D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGXD61SapUM&ob=av2e
And this version gives a way cleaner, romantic touch to Teenage Dream, gotta love Tyler Ward - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbgD8l6E-Bs

EDIT - I'd like to point out that I missed out on going to Playland for this exam.  I was very emotionally sore about that.

Confessions and Confidence

I have a dark confession to make.

It's not something I'm proud of, and I'm pretty darn sure that if I'd asked first, I wouldn't have been allowed to. It's taken away from my sleeping, working, and studying hours.  It's consumed my every thought.  It's filled me with anxiety, concern, happiness.....
I, umm.... I might have started watching Degrassi.  LAME, I know!  It's a stupid teenage angst show, all about relationships and who's dating who and blah blah blah..... At first it was just a nice study break!  But one day I started gasping and yelling at the computer screen; I then realized that Houston, we had a problem  :-S  Now I can't stop.  I'm all caught up on the current season, and delving into the archives to find more episodes....  One good thing did come out of it though.  I FOUND MY CONFIDENCE SONG.  You know!  That song that makes you freaking KNOW that you could do anything you need to.  Have an essay (that you haven't started) due in the morning, and it's already 1am?  PIECE OF CAKE, play yo song, man!  I could.... climb walls, tame bears, hike Everest, charm whatever guy I wanted with this song in my back pocket :-P
I owe it all to a Coca-Cola commercial they always play on the site I watch Degrassi on.  It's actually a dubstep song, a genre I wouldn't say was my type, but you just can't help it when you find that one song! hahahaha....

Ta Da!! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrahGdLCWjU

And, another song that's pretty darn epic, I love orchestral soundtracks for movies and stuff.  This one's from the video game Assassin's Creed - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqjbUR-vum0

In other news!  :-P  My youth group is planning our Grad trip (May 26-27!!!  Seattle here we come :-D ), I GRADUATE on the 24th, and we might have found a new church.  I like it there, and I'm considering going to the youth group next Friday (by myself! :-S )... wish me luck :-)

Back to studying, exam on Friday!  Cross your fingers for me.

See ya in two weeks, real world!

My last week rocked.  You should be immensely jealous.

It was glorious Grad Week with my school, a series of field trips (Though WAY COOLER than regular field trips) open to students grades 8-12.  We went to Timberline Ranch where I got to ride a freaking horse.  a HORSE.  BY MYSELF.  I was so stoked.  We went rock climbing, did archery, and did some team building/obstacle course events too.  Which made me very sore.  And dirty because it was raining (typical).  The next day we went to Grouse Mountain and went snowshoeing, which was so sweet!  I've been snowshoeing, but at Manning, not Grouse.  Grouse was beautiful, I loved it there.  Back at the office we goofed around and watched 'The Adventures of Tintin', which was so good!!!  I've had people tell me it was lame, but you people are just.... dumb.  It was great.  Day three there was this activity called 'Fun Day' (which a few people noted couldn't really be any fun if it was named 'Fun Day'.  Way to obvious.).  Turns out the grads who came got sucked into volunteering, helping out with younger students, which I actually really enjoyed!  I had a great bunch of kids, though.... that helped :-P  AND THEN WE SAW A WHITECAPS GAME, which I enjoyed immensely.  We yelled at the top of our lungs, ate way to much candy and popcorn, and blared the radio on the way home (so worth it, though I feel bad for the lovely teacher who drove us.  Her van speakers may never be the same again).

Results of said week - I'm so incredibly stoked for the school marine biology trip I'm going on in August, I can't stop playing Temple Run (On the iPad I'm borrowing for the marine biology trip :-D ), I met so many awesome people, and I cant wait for grad.  Gahh.

But the glory of said week has been forced into a corner (If you immediately thought "Nobody puts Baby in a corner", props to you :-P ).  I'm now studying like a madwoman for an RCM exam I have in 16 days.... HISTORY I: AN OVERVIEW (dun-Dun-DUNNNN!!!).  I have to memorize the lives, works, musical styles, and contributions of fifteen composers, from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern Era.  And any and all related terms.  FACEDESK/.  I have to know, in depth, on of their prominent works (for instance, Mozart's Eine Kliene Nachtmusik; all the movements, all the keys, all the time signatures, all the moods, all the forms.. everything), and a buttload of their other stuff too, just in case.  Like, what if they ask for an Opera that Beethoven wrote!?!? (He only wrote one... Fidelio...)  What if they ask for the name of two of Berlioz's concert overtures!?!?!!? (Waverly and Rob Roy).  I have to know inside and out their whole freaking lives and everything in between.  Do me a favour, and please please please pray for me.  And, another favour... DONT TALK TO ME.  I don't have time, I've got a buttload of studying to do!!!! :-P

Cabin Fever!!!

I just finished reading the Hunger Games trilogy.  I'm extremely sad now, and I have NO idea what to do with myself...  I could fold that pile of laundry that formed over the four days I was buried in the series.... or actually do some schoolwork.
I think I'll just find a new book.  ASAP.  The real world is far less enjoyable than the worlds in my books :-P
OR I COULD GO SEE THE MOVIE.  I haven't seen it yet, and it's killing me.  Who hasn't seen it?!  If you haven't, call me, and we'll go together.  I live really close to the movie theater.  I'll even pay.

But if all this fails, I'll have to get outside!!!  I love this time of year, when everything is just coming back to life.  It's making me want to go camping like crazy, I need a long hike and a swim in a lake somewhere.  It's making me loathe living in a development too, where all there is are smelly cars and alleyways and sketchy drainage ponds that you wouldn't dare even your worst enemy to go near.  But I found a farm nearby!  It's so great, a legit red barn, marking the end of the developments around here.  It's in this neighbourhood where all of the houses must be at least 40 years old.  A few of them have been renovated, and others have these really quirky add-ons that formed random breezeways and decks.  They're full of character :-)  And there are cows!!!  Glorious cows!!!  It made me feel very at home here (finally) :-)

Term is almost over, so my outdoor/movie shenanigans will have to wait until Saturday.  (Or, this Friday at midnight, but I have a feeling Saturday might be a bit more convenient, yes?)  I was finally able to drive on the road this weekend though.  We learned that pointing things out out the window is a bad idea (my dad would be like "Hey, look at that building its so coo--- DON'T LOOK!!!--- it's so cool."  He seriously had to say don't look or I would.  Yikes), talking about things un-related to driving causes me to completely stop paying attention to the road, then suddenly my speed goes way up, and that long straightaways are a HORRIBLE thing for me to drive down....  It's so hard to not go way over the speed limit... 60km/hr feels so slow... :-S  Moral of the story?  Don't let me drive you places until I get my FULL license :-P

Graduation is near, I got my grad dress on Friday!  Photos to come soon :-)

In the mean time, you can look at the products of an epic Saturday, involving me, my camera, and a friend. I went on a photo adventure with an amazing friend of mine, she made a great model!  A lot of the ones I took of her weren't posed, it showed her personality much better :-)

Creeper candid shot :-)

I'm ridiculously proud of this long exposure, and the edit.

THIS SONG MAKES ME SO HAPPY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DHXXZP2L7w

Papier-mâché. Ankle injuries. Photography. The usual :-)

I shall start from the beginning.

Papier-mâché, known to us who don't know French as Paper mache, it sticky.  And it dries fast.  And if you're me, it get's EVERYWHERE; Don't ask me how it got in my ears, I don't know.  My little sister (who isn't so little anymore, she's 12 and as tall as I am) had a project for school on Egypt.  It was rad, she had to make a pyramid, a sarcophagus, and a mummy made from fruit (among other things).  The sarcophagus took forever though, and we all took turns adding layers of glue and water soaked newspaper to it.  My turns were dark, dark times.  * scarred for life *

A few weeks ago (almost 7 weeks now) at practice, I busted my ankle pretty good.  I was in net (keepers FTW), and as I was backing up my foot got stuck in the gravel.  Tripping followed, but not before a lengthy conversation ensued in my head:
"If you keep stumbling backward fast enough, you'll regain your footing!  Go you!"
"Um, no, you probably wont.  You should just fall now and get it over with."
"No!  Shut up you!!!  She can do this.  She.  Is.  Woman."
"The possibility of her regaining her footing and maintaining her dignity is unlikely, just fall!"
"The both of you can shut it!"  Then, speaking directly to me -   "JUST FALL, STUPID."
That's how it always is.  The three voices start on me, one optimistic, one realistic, and the other one which sounds suspiciously like my mom, whom the other voices and I ultimately all listen to.  (I'm not crazy, I promise, and they've never told me to do something incriminating or just plain loony.  Yet. :-D )
So anyhow, once voice 3 stepped in and told me what to do, I fell on my left side (ouch), but my right foot got caught under it's own leg (the right one) on the way down.  It hurt.  It made a REALLY loud 'pop!' sound, and everyone started looking at me like I had just sprouted antlers.  I felt grand, so I finished practice with some mild stiffness, and even played 2 more games after that week.  A month later we go to the doc as it wasn't really healing, and he's like, 'Um, yeah, You severed a ligament."  (the anterior talofibular ligament, for those who care :-P )  So one session of physiotherapy, one MRI, and one intense brace later, it's still in roughly the same condition.  Blegh.  (Yes, I've had an MRI already!  People wait YEARS for one, and I got one in two weeks.  W00T for cancellations.)  I'm allowed to play the last game of the season tomorrow though, that's all I care about.  We're playing our arch enemy too, it's going to be such a blood bath!  Harsh words were exchanged last time, and there are too many dirty tricks and shoves traded each game to count.

I can't wait.

My photography has been tugging at me lately.  I need some free time so that I can run barefoot into the woods behind my house and shoot to my heart's delight.  I don't need good weather, a lot of my ideas involve getting soaked and muddy in streams, rainstorms, and sketchy puddles.  I need to spend more time on Photoshop too.  And I need to convince my Internet-wary mother to let my get Flickr.  And I need to buy my dream Nikon before the need gnaws at me to death!!

Long time no see!  Or, read... seeing as this is kind of a one way convo...yup, anyways...

I have about 5 seconds of spare time, figured I should direct you to some awesomeness.
MUSIC AWESOME -
I'm addicted to two songs, this one being the first:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9NF2edxy-M
The original is good too, though I prefer this cover.
This girl is twelve.  Gahh, I love her voice!!

An awesome movie you should see - Super 8.  It was so great!!!  But don't watch it if you're looking for a thrill, because if I of all people could handle it, it must not be scary at all :-P
I'm reading Pride and Prejudice for school (EEEEE!!!!).  I was a biased hater towards the book and movie (oh, the irony), and as I read I'm realizing that I'm actually Swooning over Mr. Darcy (I think that's what jealousy and drooling mean, yes?).  My logical self is going, 'bro, what happened to you?!?! My awesome romance hater?!?!'  As I ponder this difficult question, I'll just keep reading :-P

Try not to miss me until next time ;-)
"A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything."  ~ Irish Proverb

Sunrise from my window, this doesn't do it justice.
The contrast between the stark blue sky and the orange was incredible
